Moseley in Bloom
It’s brilliant news that Moseley in Bloom has won a Gold in the Heart of England Awards for the fifth time.
And, to cap it all, we’ve been judged Best Urban Community for the sixth consecutive year.
Moseley in Bloom is a group of volunteers, working to make Moseley Cleaner and Greener. We’re the people who put up the hanging baskets in the streets in summer.
Lordswood Girls’ School & the RHS Campaign for School Gardening
Very many congratulations to Lordswood Gardening Club (at Lordswood Girls’ School) who have been awarded the Level 3 Certificate in the Campaign for School Gardening.
Levels 1 and 2 saw the group awarded with a helpful book on growing fruit and veg and some child friendly tools. Level 3, the Alan Titchmarch Award, brings with it £250.00 worth of vouchers and a visit from an RHS expert.
Food growing in schools — evidence that it matters
The Food Growing in Schools Taskforce Report was submitted in early March.
The Taskforce had 25 members, including Garden Organic, Morrisons Supermarket, the Forestry Commission and the Royal Horticultural Society.
The Taskforce provided compelling evidence that food growing in schools helps children greatly — both in their school work and in improving their health and well-being.
