An Eco-wedding at the Grove Road Gardening Project
The first day of September saw an interesting and unique event taking place at the Grove Road Social Centre, home to its own Residents’ Gardening Project (read the earlier article about this here).
The marriage of the community’s Social Secretary Terry McCarthy to Secretary Jan Tchamani saw a great deal of gardening activity.
The Highbury Orchard Community, Kings Heath
The Highbury Orchard Community has grown from a seed of an idea back in the spring of 2010 to renovate the orchard of Joseph Chamberlain in Highbury Park, Kings Heath.
Physical work began in October 2010. Five months later a substantial amount of laid brick was uncovered, a relic of the original model farm which had once operated from the site.
Grove Road Gardening Project
Terry McCarthy is Social Secretary of the Grove Road assisted living estate in Kings Heath. He recently showed me round an exciting gardening project there.
Mere months into the project, the residents have a big enclosed garden space, an ornamental seating area, a greenhouse and newly-built trellises for climbing plants.
